Fix West Texas hosts first career fair to fill growing job openings

Fix West Texas is hosting its first annual career fair Saturday, Jan. 4, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., giving guests the opportunity to learn about the different roles available at the organization.

“We are trying to recruit some new career minded employees to Fix West Texas,” said Karen Patterson, executive director. “We’ve grown tremendously over the past four years and with that growth we have a lot of employment opportunities.”

Fix West Texas recently moved to a location in between Midland and Odessa, expanding its space so that it can provide services to both cities.

Patterson said Fix West Texas started in 2020 and that at that time performed about 3,300 spay and neuter surgeries and 8,500 vaccinations. This year, it performed about 8,500 spay and neuter surgeries and 37,000 vaccinations.

“We’ve had really tremendous growth,” Patterson said. “We want to keep the momentum and the only way to keep that is to hire more great employees who are committed to our mission of helping people and their pets in the community.”

She added that they are looking for someone who aligns with their mission to lower the euthanasia rate.
